Several years ago my younger daughter (AKA — Mother of The Magical Creatures) gave me a gift. It’s a small flip book of inspiring daily quotes. It sits on my piano and every day offers me a bit of joy and self-love.
Today’s inspiration reminds me to embrace my uniqueness. I am me. Just like each snowflake, Humans are completely different from one another. We awe at the diversity of each individual snowflake, the miracle of its shape and size — and then do so over and over with each bit of the storm we examine.
But when it comes to Humans, it’s a whole different story.
Society embraces the places where we are similar and shames us for our differences. We do not all have to march to the same drummer. We do not all have to embrace the same path. We do not all have to agree on All. The. Things. We are Human, we are individuals, and we are deserving of respect for being just exactly who we are.
Perhaps it’s hard to see that about Humans. Perhaps, like a blanket of fresh snow, we only focus on the big picture and fail to recognize how each individual plays their part in the making of the quiet and still silent nights of winter. But we are as different as each of those snowflakes. Nature has designed us thus. Both Humans and snowflakes. And we lose so…
