When I was an OR nurse, I saw IRL how the hand/eye coordination necessary for playing video games could be applied in the operating room. Laprascopic/minimally invasive surgery became the standard of care for so many previously 'open' operations. Even heart surgery had moved into that minimally invasive format with much better outcomes & faster recovery times for patients. I watched as skilled and experienced surgeons struggled to master 'scopes' while their residents picked it up without even breaking a sweat. It was astounding to my middle-aged self that I actually found an upside of video gaming and that gamers could save lives.
