What you say about faculty salaries is so true. I'm a nurse with a BSN and 26 years of nursing experience. If I wanted to teach nursing - I would need to HAVE a master's degree and promise to get a PhD ASAP. All this for about a $20k/year pay CUT. They wonder why there are no nursing instructors out there to teach all the baby nurse wannabees- this is it. The waiting list to get into a nursing program is usually years long. And nurses like me are retiring in VAST numbers. I have 55 working days left as a nurse. But who's counting? BTW - the student loans I took out to get my BSN will finally be paid off when I'm 65. Roughly 4 years after I retire from that profession.
