What one wears to work to conform to corporate dress code is not what I was talking about. I worked as a nurse for over 26 years - I wore scrubs every day. As a case manager - I wore business causal - the dress code applied by my management.
If the purple-haired, mini-skirted among us are being subject to judgement and harassment by younger employees, it seems to me they need our support even more.
Bullys will bully - it has nothing to do with what a person is wearing & the victim of the bullying is NEVER responsible for the abuse rendered upon them. We know that. Insecure Humans tear others down to make themselves feel worthy.
We change the narrative of aging when we stand up for ourselves or we support others. But you're correct about one thing. If you find yourself also judging someone by their outward appearance, and you can't bring yourself to support them, then yes, the best thing you can do is not to add any further to their pain & shaming.
