Vascular dementia doesn't just run in my family - it gallops. I assume that it will happen - eventually - to me. I figure I got about 20 years or so, as most of my family developed it in their 80s. And this - more than anything - is why I write. I probably can't do a lot to mitigate my risk factors - though like you, I maintain a healthy & active lifestyle (something none of my relatives ever did). And I hope for the best. But I leave behind my writing for my kids & The Magical Creatures so they always will know how much I loved them & who I was.

And if I happen to dodge the bullet - well then, even better.
