I’ve been using FB for quite some time. Back in the day, my elder daughter signed me up right after her sister’s wedding. It was an easy way to share all the photos all our friends took of the big day.
Eventually, I stumbled into the messenger part of the platform and was able to connect with old friends and family members who lived states away. Social media was an up-and-coming thing, but even back then I was always a bit creeped out when ads for running shoes appeared on my FB timeline moments after I had chatted about my daily run with a friend.
And yet — I also stumbled across bits of wisdom sent straight to my timeline in the form of memes. Memes for all the stuff I was going through. Answers to unasked questions. From various pages, prophets and rock stars sent me their quotes on how to make a Life.
I decided to switch my perspective. Sure FB and corporations all over the world were out there — ready to capitalize on my every whim. But, what if The Universe was also watching? What if She was also out there — ready to offer solutions to issues I didn’t even know I had?
I know a lot of Humans who leave FB. They don’t curate their timelines and end up with just more bullshit. All. The. Bullshit. until they reach a breaking point and throw in the towel.
