“This Too Shall Pass.”

The best advice I ever got

The Irishman used to tell me, “This too shall pass.” I don’t remember when he first said those words to me — perhaps it was when my stepmother moved out. Or maybe it was the time my father stopped speaking to me for three weeks. I know we were both still just kids — and he was already wise beyond his years.

When My Life unraveled and I was forced into a cocoon to wait out my transformation — he was there. With these words, through my excruciatingly painful meltdown and rebirth.

He encouraged the struggle to pull myself out of my chrysalis. He cheered me when I tried out my wings. He gave me a safe branch to land on when I was tired.

He understood the very nature of Life is change. The Good Days might not last — but the silver lining is this: Neither do The Bad Days.

So I want to share his wisdom with you all. You don’t have the sound of his voice ringing through your memory banks to help you as I do. But that doesn’t mean you can’t take his words and make them your own.

Enjoy The Good Days while you have them, let go of The Bad Days when they arrive. Because —

“This too shall pass.”

Namaste.
