The Turning of the Wheel
Winds blow. Ground shifts. Fire burns. Water rages. And everything everywhere changes. Why should anyone be surprised when civilization experiences these same cosmic shifts? A brief glance at the history of the world will show us that when societies unravel, the vulnerable suffer the most.
And in These Days, we have to ask ourselves — Is this simply us unraveling? Is it our turn to live in the end times of a society? Is it not the end of the world, but simply the fall of The Empire we inhabited?
There exists for most Humans a type of life-blindness. No one goes through life consciously aware of the fact they will die. If we did, we might treat each other differently. We might make different choices about how we spent our time on Gaia. Death is a secret we keep and we keep it very well. I worked in healthcare for over 26 years and it was clearly stated by all — Death, whenever it arrived, was always The Enemy.
But what about a bigger Death? The Death of a civilization? For just as surely as we pass to dust — so do our world powers. Sand shifts, fire burns, waters, rage, wind blows, and just like that — they are no more. They become chapters in history books and bits of clay unearthed. Some are never seen again, such as Atlantis, did it really fall into the sea? Or was it a metaphor for All…
