Each of The Three Magical Creatures speaks a different love language. And it is never more apparent than at Christmas.
The Oldest Magical Creature loves by touch. She gives and receives love through the very fiber of her skin. Even though she is nearly as tall as I am, we spend a lot of time together snuggled up under a blanket watching Christmas movies. She gives love by touching you — a hug here, a pat on the shoulder there. She is always the last one to hug me goodbye and that is also the longest hug — as if she is infusing me with her love to tide me over until I see her again.
The Middle Magical Creature loves by giving gifts. She gives and receives love and revels in the magic of Christmas. She plans surprises, gives small gifts, performs elaborate plays or dance routines. All for the pleasure of seeing our faces light up with laughter and joy. She is always planning something for those she loves. She invariably will tuck a drawing or a handmade card into my computer bag right before I go home. So later, when I’m unpacking at home, I’ll find the surprise to remind me how much she loves me.
The Littlest Magical Creature loves by speaking words. She gives and receives love by telling you, straight up, she loves you. No — not JUST loves you — loves you A LOT. She is the empath in the group…
