The key phrase in your response - "While On Duty". I am still a licensed nurse until the end of the year - however, I am retired. I have been for quite some time. When this license term ends - I will place my license on inactive status.
And yes - WHILE ON DUTY - I followed the protocols of my facility to the letter. That is an entirely different situation than the one I am referring to in the piece. I apologize for not communicating my point more clearly.
As a nurse walking around the mall - I am not required to give assistance to anyone - even though I have the skills to do so. Unless I want to. And only until the point of time I become to tired to continue. Because if you haven't ever given CPR to another human - let me tell you - pumping on a chest takes strength & stamina. The law forgives you when you run out of either.
