Christmas Tales of Giving And Receiving
When you come right down to it — it is the most precious commodity we have.
We pretend we have an endless supply of it. We live in denial of the finite property it is. We fool ourselves into not counting its passage. Until we simply look up and see the distance we’ve traveled.
We are very bad at Keeping Time with Time.
But to share Time — to give your Time to another is the most precious gift on the planet.
In the holiday season, we are often bogged down with commitments. So much so we neglect the truly important places we should be placing Our Time.
At year’s end corporate America pushes us to tidy up and close deals — often drawing us away from our homes and families — taking up precious Time we can never reclaim.
Superficial holiday gatherings of people or beliefs we do not embrace cause us stress and keep us from sharing Time and pleasure with those who are near and dear to us.
Being overly committed to causes we may find just and noble can sap our energy and leave us with no Time to give to ourselves. Generosity begins with kindness to ourselves. We must also bestow the gift of Time upon our own beings.
We are never guaranteed Next Christmas — or even tomorrow. There is only Today. Now. How differently we might spend our Time would that we remember this fact?
Would we choose differently? Would we forgo meetings to bake cookies? Would we spend less money and spend more Time?
Some of the memories I treasure most were Gifts Of Time — given with care, joy, and compassion. Search your history, you know exactly what I mean. There are no price tags on these moments of Love. These blessings of Presence.
And even today — when my family and I are together — we are not together for any other purpose except for the company. To spend the Gift Of Time together.
This season — Give yourself and those you Love — The Gift of Time.
Time to be together. Time for yourself. Time to Relax without stress or over commitment. Time to feel The Love which is Christmas.
