Member-only story
I wrote these two stories about my mother and father in law. They were married over 50 years. They were good humans and good to each other in a way most married people just aren’t. They were each other’s world.
I think of them often. I remember deer hunting with my mother in law, drinking blackberry brandy with my father in law, hanging out in their dream house — a log cabin in the middle of a North East PA forest.
Like each of us — their love story was unique — full of ups and downs, happiness and tragedy, things they got right and things they got wrong.
But it was also full of love for each other. The kind of marathon love that goes the distance when the finish line is nowhere to be seen.
Happy Valentine’s Day Floyd and Eleanor! Where ever you are — I know you are together. ❤
Namaste.
