That's the rub - isn't it? Last time consultants came through cost my facility millions of dollars for them to tell the powers that be nurses were paid too much and overstaffed in critical areas. Like the OR. We lost our break person & would go 10 hour shifts in an OR with one lunch break (maybe) at 2 or 3 PM. Potty breaks were 90 SECONDS on the way to see your next patient in pre-op if you were lucky enough to have short cases. It's so hard to take that they spent so much money - threw at these contractors and short changed the staff. I don't miss a bloody minute of it.
