Thank you, Penny. As an OR nurse — and prior to that an ICU nurse — you work in a completely controlled environment. The ER is chaos. Those of us with a touch of OCD lean away from that chaos. :) I loved the OR as well. I worked in both the main OR doing big cases & also in our surgery center where the pace was phenomenally fast. It was a good career & I don’t regret a moment of it. Because now, I have this wonderful retirement.

And the only evidence of my career is a couple of kidney stones. Not all of my colleagues were so fortunate. Most have had joint surgeries of various kinds. Many have high blood pressure. Others can’t seem to walk away from the playing hard. Nursing takes a bit of you with it.
