So here's my gardening hack. I have shepherd hooks around my front entrance & back patio. They are out in the elements so anything hung from them get loads of water without my intervention (most of the time). I go to Lowes & buy a few baskets to hang from them. They look gorgeous. I have sun-hardy vincas out front in bright red for the humming birds along with a pot of snapdragons on my outdoor dining table. Out back there's a big old pot of petunias - because back there the sun is always on & brutal & they're really hardy. It all cost under $50 AND - bonus - not a single speck of dirt on my hands. :)
