Same with me, Nancy. I was a nurse navigator for surgery oncology when I retired at the end of 2020. Our ICU nurses were dropping like flies from having to care for all the COVID patients. The facility was looking to back fill those vacancies with staff from other areas who had ICU experience. That was me - I started my career there & worked in the units for about 4 years. So I got out before I had to go back to bedside nursing. Thankfully, it all worked out ok financially for me, or I couldn't have taken this option. I probably would have kept working until I was in my mid-60s without the pandemic, but I have never regretted my decision to leave as soon as I could. I love being retired. My license is also inactive with a status of 'retired'.
