One-ness

The Universe has been reminding me lately about this state of being.

Our One-ness with each other.

Lessons from Her usually come in the form of pointing out the places you are most vulnerable. The buttons, if you will, we all carry around with us in our psyches.

Those buttons get pushed. Even when you smugly and resolutely are committed to non-reaction — you find yourself going to dark places.

That’s the ‘bad news’ — in a way. The ‘good news’ is we will always be given insights and tools to help us heal those places.

In Pema Chodron’s new book, “Welcoming The Unwelcome”, she speaks eloquently about suffering. All. The. Suffering. She encourages us to face our suffering, embrace it, and connect to all the other beings who suffer in the same manner. Use our suffering to unite us and open us rather than to pull us back into ourselves and isolate.

And it does help.

Imagine if you will on a smaller scale of suffering — you have had a piece on Medium turned away from a publication. Your ego is bruised, your confidence a bit shaken, you aren’t sure your voice is as steady as it was yesterday when you submitted the piece. But then, you sit and take all of your doubts and fears and pour them into the cauldron of suffering. You realize there are thousands of us standing there with…
