My current system - that I have had for over a decade - I have a zen alarm clock. It 'bongs' - I get up. I don't do snooze and I set it for when I have to get out of bed. One Bong. Though most mornings it's just a back up and I'm awake before it goes off. Currently my rolling out of bed time is 0700. A great relief from decades of 0500 - to be at work by 0700. I will just be happy not to set it anymore.
