My smile — my eyes are there — shining back at me
Soft, sweet-smelling bundles of Joy
Literally & figuratively so many decades ago
Their tears broke my heart.
Their laughter filled my days.
They showed me the world new & fresh
Through their wonder — the ultimate Beginner’s Mind
As they touched, tasted, crawled, walked
Then ran — to their futures.
My Children are the gift I give the world
May the world be worthy of them.
