Most days I hover around 500–550. I’ve noticed my flows start to slide before I’m even really feeling tight or short of breathe. I monitor the peak flows daily and I believe this habit has really helped derail exacerbations before I get ill. I rarely need the rescue inhaler — though I carry one with me. Always. And an epi-pen.

I’ve been on maintenance asthma meds for a good 35+ years. For me it’s always the tree pollen.

When I was younger and “looking” for a nice perfume- I made my decision based on if the scent bothered my allergies. So far I have found only one I can tolerate. I’ve had romantic partners attempt to get me to try something else — none of them seemed to understand it was a matter of my personal health to stick with what works. These days — pandemic wise- I hardly even bother with that one.

But as a nurse — we were always discouraged from wearing any scents at work for the exact scenario you described.

Stay safe & well. FYI: You’re one of the few people I’ve talked to that also developed asthma as an adult.
