Time Out Of Time
This weekend I’m heading south on an adventure to a place I’ve never been before with My Best Friend. We always have a great time. AND — it’s warm where we’re heading.
I’m bringing TWO bathing suits — maybe even THREE! The plan is to NOT wear real clothes the whole time I’m gone.
But I digress.
The real point of the post is this — I. Am. So. Excited.
I love to travel. I love getting away from my day to day. I love going to a place I’ve never been to before and exploring. And I especially love when all of the above includes a beach!
Because here’s the thing — you have to invest in Joy. It’s vital to Your Life.
Sure I could save vacation time, put off Joy till I retire later this year and get up every morning — trudge into work and make the donuts.
But why? Why postpone Joy?
Tomorrow is never, ever guaranteed.
I have held a lot of dying hands — and no patient has ever turned to me and had regrets over not working enough. When Humans face The Next Thing — they regret the times they didn’t grab Joy with both hands of those very same hands. The ones I am holding as they slip to The Other Side.
The Universe has put this particular lesson in My Life, on replay, too many times to count. The Dying are incapable of lying.
So — I will go. I will step out of time with the best of companions. We will play on beaches and drink scotch. We will watch the sun set and talk under starry nights. Every breath, every moment will be a living meditation.
And maybe — just maybe…I might come back. Or maybe not.
“Do anything, but let it produce joy.” — Walt Whitman
