In my work place, I was just happy the surgeons didn't yell at me. And frankly, I didn't want most of them to remember my name. My husband at the time told me that if the same behavior happened at his work, heads would roll. I had a unique career with unique challenges. The bar for good behavior was far lower. In the south, this is a cultural phenomena. Just like the also dreaded title - Ma'am. As I said, my life experience is unique, having been an OR nurse for most of my career. So my perspective is different. I would certainly call you Jody if you asked me to. And you make an excellent point about gender pronouns.
