In a consultation with my bank's free estate planning service, I found out that the county I live in will only accept the ORIGINAL will to register for probate. My kids & my lawyer have copies, but my executor also needs to know where the original is. Check with your local state & county government for any weird rules like that. My lawyer didn't tell me this when the will was made but the bank knew.
