I'm an editor for several publications here & I never edit out 'swear words'. We are not here to write polite pieces. We are here to tell our stories. And some of our stories take us to hell and not always back. I am on the side of free speech rather than polite conversation. It is the readers' prerogative to only read pieces that appeal to their sensibilities. However, I have found that some instances call for strong language as they are also invoking strong emotions. And some of the best stories of Humans overcoming obstacles start with the sentence, "Oh, shit."
