I was a kidney transplant coordinator & YES - if you have KIDNEY FAILURE - low protein is a must. But kidney stones aren't made up of protein (usually) it's the oxalate that's the issue. I have had 3 stones - one passed & I live with smaller ones in each of my kidneys. I don't want them to get bigger. HOWEVER, my kidney function is normal. You can go into failure due to stones, but I see the urologist every year to monitor it. My kidney labs are stellar - they're working just dandy around those stones in the pelvis of the organ.
