I understand your reluctance to photograph the butterfly. I rarely take photos when I vacation. I have learned that the activity of taking the photo often takes me ‘out of the moment’ — I become an observer instead of a participant there. And for me — to hold the feelings of the experience as you so beautifully described is such a gift of travel and life. I can hold my ‘photo’ with my awareness in my heart and minds eye if I stay present instead of fumbling for my phone and missing my life.
