I understand. I’m divorced as well. You face so many losses with divorce. It’s not just the marriage, it’s your future life that you had in mind for all those decades. It’s all the plans that will never come together. You lose your in-laws, you lose friends. And you’re right — in a very deep way — that life, your life, is over. Compassion would have been so helpful back then. But you also face really hard truths. Like how the rules of the church don’t really care about women. And who your true friends are.
