I like that — the chemistry can be off. I was a nurse for half my life — we were trained to put ‘our stuff’ on a back burner whenever we dealt with patients. I try to do that as an editor as well. There are rules — each publication has them. I follow the rules set down by the publication’s owner, however — I’ve been fortunate in my editing experience & my own writing, in that I’ve been able to allow for a lot of creative license as far as content goes. I rarely make suggestions as to content unless I feel strongly the piece could be improved. I try very hard to leave the writer’s voice prevelant. I think that’s important.
