I have a friend who is bipolar. She always has the TV on - she says it helps block out the noise in her brain. We all have different ways to self-soothe. For me always - as often as I can - I walk. My first meditation practices were walking a labyrinth. As a child, after my mother died, I would walk into the forest or out onto the fields. Being with nature somehow eased the emptiness of my soul.
It was also the beginning of my introversion. I am that rare extroverted introvert. I can be the life of the party - and enjoy the right company. I can also hole up in my house for days without speaking to another soul.
As we get older - we get to know ourselves better. And we stop saying 'yes' to the stuff we really always wanted to say 'no' to. :)
Happy Holidays dear Penny! Many blessings! <3
