I believe for most of us it has become exactly what you say. I’m old enough to remember other public health mandates — which were also not so lovingly received.
When alcohol & cigarettes were required to put warning labels on their products. When seatbelt and carseat use became mandatory.
My parents’ generation couldn’t sign up to get their kids vaccinated quick enough. They had lived with the threat of Smallpox and polio. Vaccines may not be perfect — but they save lives.
