I was reading some of my favorite peeps here on Medium and White Feather wrote a post about a mystical experience he had with an Angel who liked to hang out with him as long as he stayed within Her territory.

It made me ponder a few things. Not the least of which — my few brushes with The Divine and That Kind Of Knowing. For me it’s never been quite so in your face — I’ve had to listen closely and fine tune the frequency. Sort of like trying to find your favorite AM radio station back in the day. FM always came in much clearer — AM was a static mess and you had to really love the music on that station to mess with it.

I’m sure most of the people reading that last sentence have no idea what the hell I’m even referring to. Never mind…

Because trying to describe any kind of mystical experience to someone who isn’t ‘in tune’ is just as daunting as it is trying to explain what AM radio is/was. (BTW — does it still exist? Again — never mind.)

It seems to me certain individuals simply function on different frequencies. Or maybe we all have own vibration — I know when I tune in and listen to my inner wisdom — my life gets about 1000% easier, and more joyful. There is a flow when I’m paying attention to the vibe.

There have been moments when that vibe has taken me to other places through my mediation practice. Places of great peace and comfort. Places in the presence of love and acceptance. Places of inner wisdom and knowing.

Places where I have not been alone.

Every religion has a mystical side to it. A piece of the whole where practitioners delve into The Divine with completely open hearts, minds, and souls. They receive in return for their faith — ecstatic experiences beyond what most can tolerate. They merge with Divinity.

They lead us on a new path of enlightenment paved with joy, love, and trust. They embrace their visions and experiences as the gifts they are. Without fear. NO FEAR. Only joy.

Mother Teresa is quoted as saying, “Joy is prayer. Joy is strength. Joy is love. Joy is a net of love by which you catch souls.”

Not everyone is comfortable with the Mystic. The world is full of a lot of people who need rules and regulations. Folks who just ‘need to know’. If it can’t be explained or colored with black and white — they can’t get it.

The world needs all of us though. Every rainbow color from Black to White and every shade of Gray in between. The people who keep the rules and hold the boundaries and the Mystics who move in shades of gray and for whom boundaries aren’t even suggestions. Together we form the face of The Divine for each other to see. A vast reflection of joy.

‘A net of love by which you catch all the souls…’
