I recently joined Medium as a member — note the pretty green circle now around my photo.
I have read all the great benefits afforded writers who write on Medium, I suppose. It seems to me that it might be a bit counter intuitive to lock your stories when you’re first getting started and actually want people to read your stuff. But Medium’s membership model no doubt works very well for writers with a following.
Because as an avid reader on Medium and a fan of many of the writers here, that is the very reason I cheerfully signed up as a member. I wanted access to my favorite authors and I was tired of being told I had read my alotted amount of member stories for the month.
So while I won’t be locking any of my stories — frankly most of my readers are a small group of devoted friends and family from my Facebook page (and also hopefully one day those grand kids) — I don’t mind paying for the privilege of reading the wonderful insights and profound words I find here.
I’m rather happy to have my claps count.
