Exactly. It’s hard to know. As an OR nurse I could read an expression with just the forehead, eyebrows, & eyes visible to me. That skill has come in handy in my casual exchanges with other Humans on my walking trail as we pass each other. But spontaneous hugs and gatherings have been a thing of the past for 10 months.

Sometimes it just bubbles up — like last night — when one realizes that socialization is a skill we’ve learned and mastered throughout our entire lifetime. And we all know if you don’t use it — you lose it. Whatever the ‘it’ might be.
