I have a hard job sometimes. Its physically and emotionally draining.
Some of the cases are slightly controled chaos. Slightly. Like today, when I feel like a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.
My neck and shoulders ache from the tension which permanently lives there. I only just now realized I have finally — two hours after leaving work — relaxed my face.
But today was a good day. All the pieces of the puzzle fell into place and it all got managed. It was hectic and busy — steady on all day long. The hours literally flew by, but it all ended well.
Happy surgeons, stable patients and jokes in the locker room to finish out the shift.
Soon I’ll treat myself to a candle lit soak in a hot bath. Tomorrow I’ll schedule a massage to ease the knotted muscles which are an occupational hazard.
Tonight, though, I’ll just be thankful that today is history. And for the company that I had along the way.
