As a nurse, I understood that women were ALWAYS there - in every war. We held scalpels & bandages instead of weapons. Which made the grand announcement the armed services made about 'allowing women' on the battlefield even more idiotic. Nurses were invisible -women were already there - dying for their country. At least, finally, the powers that be gave them the means to defend themselves.
When I went to DC & saw the statue that honored these unseen & invisible women heroes - I wept. And I am not one who does much of that. But I was so moved and so proud to be a part of the nursing profession. Thank you for sharing this review. It's going on my reading list. <3
