Anticoagulation is a very fine-tuned dance. To reassure you a bit, my former husband also had a PE. Thankfully, like your grandson, he had already been admitted for a blood clot in his groin & was in the midst of IV anticoagulation therapy when it broke loose & floated into his lung. He recovered and lived without any further episodes for the rest of his life. His blood clots came from a genetic disorder, not from renal failure.
