Along with the programming to find a Prince to Save You and all the suffering you have to endure till he comes along — Disney also has written into nearly all his versions of the fairy tales the lack of a Mother. No guiding Crone figure to guide the young woman/princess. Or if she is there — she’s an Evil Stepmother, ineffective mother who allows the young woman to suffer, or she is a victim herself — being over taken by the Evil forces and has not voice, no strength.

I taught my kids about Disney as they grew up. And the first thing they learned was that Walt had Mommie issues and if THEIR mother were in those films things would play out a lot differently becaue no one messes with MY kids. :)
